Red rhinestone jewels

Vivid red rhinestone glass gems are perfect for Christmas – and actually, you could get them in time (but it’d be close). But you know, red is also the color for Valentine’s Day. And if you’re thinking of making some gifts – or creating some jewelry for sale – Valentine’s Day isn’t very far off!

So – maybe we can put our thinking cap on and start thinking of the new year. And Valentine’s Day. And DIY Valentine’s Day jewelry for those we love 🙂

Vintage glass jewels – cherry red ovals and black teardrops

The glass jewels shown in this DIY earring design idea are all vintage glass: the cherry red ovals were made in post-war Japan, and the black rhinestone teardrops are West German, from the early 1960s I believe. I’m relying on the original packaging for that guesstimate – they were originally sold by the half gross, and wrapped in paper. That paper had the importer’s business name, address, and telephone number printed on it. The phone number had no area code – the phone number was something like, RIVERSIDE 8635. (I’m going on memory here, don’t have the paper anymore.)

Now that’s vintage 🙂

These are very handsome jewels, in great shape, and the opaque colors are bold and strong when you’re not in the mood for sparkly and delicate.

(They’d be great for Christmas, too. Just, you know, in case.)

Pink glass jewels – Deal of the Day

I was thinking of your besties – or your bridesmaids next spring! Or any reason you want some pretty pink jewels. For this new “Deal of the Day” – buy any pink rhinestone jewels from my shop and get another jewel, or pair of jewels, free. Equal or lesser value and all that.

Like these pretty rhinestones:

Wouldn’t those be lovely for your bridesmaids? Or your best friend? Or your mom?

Or you, of course!

So for December 14, 2017 – all day – buy any pink jewels and let me know what you’d like for your freebie. Because you can 🙂

DIY earring design idea – glass jewels and brass charms

And this is another example of how you can easily combine brass charms – in this case, cute little golden brass acorn charms – with glass jewels. Easy peasy – a DIY earring design idea that you can use, or adapt, or add your own special creative touch 🙂

I these these are really cute just “as is” – but I specially like them because they’re small(ish) and lightweight and would be so comfy.

And pretty, and affordable. Don’t want to forget that part 🙂

Brass filigree flowers and topaz teardrops

The “topaz teardrops” in the title are actually the color known as “light colorado topaz” – it’s a gentle golden tan. I just wanted to show another example of how well these brass filigree flowers work, when paired with rhinestone teardrops, to make a fabulous pair of earrings!

These would totally work year-round. Imagine with your fave swimsuit! Or on New Year’s Eve. Or anywhere in between.

Easy to make – just add jump rings and earwires. Or make them more intricate in your own special design. This is the way DIY jewelry is supposed to work: simple to create, affordable – and beautiful 🙂

New BOGO deal of the day – December birthstones!

Okay, I should correct that – it’s December birthstone *color* glass jewels that are on sale. I don’t have any precious tanzanite or zircon in my shop – but I’ve got some wonderful blue zircon, aqua, and turquoise glass cabochons and jewels available. They’re lovely, and affordable, and they are now on a BOGO sale!
