DIY red white and blue earrings for the Fourth of July!

Okay, I’ll say right up front that of course these earrings would look great year-round. But I was playing with faceted stones on my worktable, just trying new ideas, and these really would be perfect for the Fourth of July!

Make the design your own! Change sizes and shapes, and even colors – really the thing to remember is that it’s always a great time to try new ideas…

White glass jewels with crystal – DIY jewelry for summer sparkle!

These opaque white glass teardrops are vintage from the 1950s according to the packaging. I’ve paired them with faceted crystal diamond-shape jewels – don’t they look great together? (I thought I posted this a while back and now I can’t find it!)

They’re wonderful for bridal jewelry of course – but right now they just seemed so fresh and summery!.

Easy to use – just use a jump ring to link the two design elements. Add earwires. You’re good to go – easy, affordable DIY summer jewelry!

Really I just think it’s a good idea to point out that you don’t have to spend a lot of time or money to have pretty jewelry. Of course you can – and I’m not talking just about precious gems. There are intricate, complex designs that can produce fabulous pretties.

But you don’t have to. Be easy on yourself sometimes. Find a pretty jewel, or a pretty combo like these in one setting. Figure out the colors you want. Add earwires. Done.

And they’ll be great. It really can be that simple. (And hey, click on the pic to see more combos that are ready in my shop – and remember you can ask to see others!)

Earring Design Idea – Neutral Glass Gems

I recently made a pair of earrings for a friend – and was reminded that it’s fun to use neutral colors sometimes. How often do you wear black and white, or tan and black? Yeah, me too. So I took some jewels that were already on my worktable, and tried a new design. Let me know what you think!

I think this is a good reminder to me – and to my friends and customers too. Get out of the rut sometimes? I love color, so I tend to move toward using vivid colors in jewelry. And that’s fine, and works well. But gray is strong – and neutral. Combining neutrals works too!

Fuschia Pink Drop Earrings

These buff (smooth) fuschia pink earring jewels are vintage, from the 1950s I think! They look pretty fabulous for their age.

Actually they look pretty wonderful for any age. It’s a good color – flattering, and easy for most people to wear. And these vintage gems make super easy do it yourself earrings. You can fancy them up, and add several elements – but they look great “as is”. Add earwires and you’re good to go!

DIY earrings in new crystal shapes

Yes. Crystal earrings. Again. Because they are so sparkly, so pretty – and so useful!

One of the nicest things about these earrings (aside from that sparkle!) is that they are not large, and not heavy to wear. The diamond shape gems are just 10x10mm (approx. 3/8″) and the round jewels are 8mm – that’s about 1/4″.

These will be noticed. These would be beautiful for a bride. Or at work, even. They aren’t “in your face”. They’re lovely. And comfortable. And easy to DIY. This is a win, you know?

Crystal heart earrings

These earrings are classics – crystal hearts in a silver setting. Lovely!

These are simple – and flattering. The jewels are a modest 5/8″ high (15x14mm) so they’re not heavy. They’re perfect for wedding earrings – but honestly, anytime you want a sparkly, feminine earring you could reach for these.

Click on the pic to find the heart jewels I have in my shop right now – and if you don’t see a color you need, please do ask – I might have some stashed!

(P.S. Yes, these are wonderful for a bride. But also…think how great these would look on the beach!)

Crystal glass jewels for a sparkling necklace

This picture shows a sparkling crystal necklace – and a super useful DIY necklace design!

Of course, you can just click on the pic to find these jewels – and more crystals, more styles, and more colors – in my shop. This design is made with three sizes of crystal rhinestone (glass) jewels – shown here are 8mm rounds with rivoli faceting, 10x10mm diamond shapes, and a pear or teardrop focal centerpiece that measures 18x13mm. This would be a wonderful necklace for prom – and (I know you’ve thought of this already) a beautiful bridal necklace. Wedding jewels? Yes!

Run with the idea – using the shapes that work best for you, and a different color – or combination of colors – that could be so much fun!

And as always, if there’s a color or shape you’re searching for and not finding – just ask. I might have it – or I’ll help!
