Vintage black and white Talbot’s dress

I was looking at party dresses…not really interested in super fussy or “grand evening” dressy – just fun party dresses. And found this little treasure 🙂

vintage black and white Talbots plus size party dress

I love the slightly flirty look – sheer sleeves, long(ish) twirly skirt – but it’s easy and not fussy and wearable. And! It is a Size 16! YMMV or course, but still – it is NOT a size 2. Size 2 is fine and all but you know, not all of us are that tiny.

I’d dress it up (kinda) with a long black necklace and a super fitted jacket for warmth (1940s preferably) – or a black shawl. Or your raincoat, hey, you’re not going to wear the coat all evening, so whatever. But it would work right now – through Spring. Like clothes should 🙂

This little cutie lives at Gypsum Moon Style vintage boutique on Etsy – until some lucky girl grabs it. That girl could be you. Just sayin.

Vintage technicolor jacket :-)

Now this is why vintage is cool. Take a look at this totally wearable, everyday, just-for-fun jacket:

vintage technicolor bomber jacket

It’s basically just a baseball jacket. It’s casual, it’s not meant to be Grand, it’s probably fairly lightweight. Perfect for fall days or nights when you just need a little something. The thing is, somebody decided to make it fun. It’s hand-embroidered, it’s got lots of colors, it’s not super expensive, and you’re definitely not going to see a bunch of them running around the neighborhood.

I found it at Last Call by T a new vintage shop on Etsy. Tierney, the shop owner, has a great eye. She gives details, she has good clear photos, she finds good stuff. This is the kind of shop we all want to find 😉

It’s why vintage is fun. Something a little different, something you can enjoy without stressing about it. Just wear it 🙂

Vintage green summer dress

I saw this adorable kelly green vintage dress and it just popped into my head, how I would wear it. And I totally fell in love.

Now first, it’s a cute dress. Next: add bright red hoop earrings. Big ones. And really high heeled sandals. Yes, just this once, because they would so totally rock. In red, or green, or black. Black patent. That’s the ticket.

I don’t know if I’d leave the length “as is”, or shorten it to one of the calico bands around the bottom – would have to try it on to see.

I found this terrific garment while visiting Topanga Hidden T on Etsy. Darrell and Mary Bee, the owner and curator, have a great eye, super values – and a brick and mortar shop as well! So in person, or online, you definitely want to Go Shopping here 🙂

And this dress – cute, cotton, and even comfy – and it’s a “large” (yay! not a size 2!) And fun? Yes.

The bright red hoops are optional 🙂

P.S. Plus – this is important. They have a dinosaur on the roof of their brick-and-mortar. I mean, it’s worth the trip to LA!

Vintage turquoise sandals

Oh my goodness! Look at these gorgeous shoes. The shop has them listed as “mules” – I’d have said, “Slides”. They’re backless heels, they’re sandals, whatever you call them, they are wonderful!

vintage turquoise sandals or mules

Actually I think I like the name “mules”. It’s vintage too. And these are that super combo of vintage style – that looks totally great today.

I found these hot shoes at Vogue Vintage boutique at Etsy, and this woman has a great eye (and great prices!) Check out her orange crocheted sundress, or purple mod 1960s swimsuit, or Hawaiian batik dress, or – well, you get the idea. And right now, she’s got a “Christmas in July” sale.

Check it out – you’ll love it!

Black Beaded Vintage Dress

And here you have a vavoom example of why vintage is so great – take a look at this fabulous dress!

black beaded vintage dress

It’s gorgeous, for one thing. It’s got a great flirty style. It would look darling with black stilettos as shown – or the barest black sandals. You could wear it right now for a fancy summer party. You could absolutely wear it for New Year’s Eve. And you are NOT going to see ten of them at the party. You will be Unique – which is (one of the) main things to love about vintage.

I found this adorable dress at Shabby Babe Vintage on Etsy, and believe me you are going to want to shop there. Heather, the owner/curator (and model!) has got a great eye for Finds. She tells you the good *and* the bad about her items – and that’s so important when you’re buying something online. She gives GOOD pics – the details you need to know.

She loves vintage. You can tell. And if you’re like me, you do too. Go there. You’ll thank me.

Vintage halter dress – just in time for summer

This dress totally restores my faith in vintage (okay, I hadn’t actually lost it. But still!) This is just what I’m looking for – a goodlooking, wearable, flattering, one-of-a-kind vintage dress.

vintage floral halter dress from Vintage Dinosaur Shop

I know you understand: this is why I love vintage. It’s all those good things I mentioned above – and it’s not a size 2! Score extra points for that. I found it at the Vintage Dinosaur Shop on Etsy, and I am definitely bookmarking this shop. The owners/curators, Emily and Jennifer, have great vision – and they give you the visual information you need to make an online purchase.

And their clothes are Affordable. I am totally in love. You’re welcome 🙂

PS And did you notice? This dress is FUN.

Upcycled boho sundress – trending AND unique

I love it when I find unique, attractive, upcycled clothing. That’s what fashion is all about, yknow?

green upcycled boho sundress from Pandoras Passions

Let me tell you about this dress. You don’t need me to say it’s fab to look at: you’ve got eyes. It is also washable (hey, upcycled fabrics, which is not only uber cool but means these fabrics are *durable* or they would be long gone). The neckline is flattering – and the seaming offers some structure and support without being all pokey. The little tie at the back waist means you can make it fit you *exactly*. The handkerchief-hem is fun and flirty.

And. You’ll be wearing a garment that nobody else has. It will be YOURS alone. And it’s made from upcycled fbrics, I’m repeating that, because it is so cool. And on top of that? This dress is a great value!

I found it at Pandora’s Passions upcycled clothing boutique on Etsy. I’m loving this shop. Terri, the designer/owner, needs to be encouraged to do more of her wonderful work. It’s fun, flattering, affordable – unique.

And eco-friendly. And gorgeous. This is a win!

Vintage Calvin Klein dress. A. Great. Dress.

I actually had to modify my comments about this dress. Abbreviated, this is what they came down to: Wow. This is a GREAT dress.

vintage green Calvin Klein dress from Bella Amori Vintage

I mean, there were a whole lot of things I was going to say, including “cotton and Washable!” and flattering fit and if you have to get some Spanx to wear this dress, do it, because it is still a fabulous value, and you are never going to have a better dress.

I mean, that may not be true, you may have a closetful of fabulous dresses. But most of us? A dress like this, that looks great and is effortless and will be fab with no accessories or pile them on, with flats or stilettos, in summer (on cool days or nights) or winter (add a cardigan), and even the color will look good on almost everybody? And it’s easy, and it always looks good, and YOU always look good?

How are you going to get a better dress than that? You’re not. This is what clothes are supposed to do – effortlessly, like this.

And not only is this vintage and you will not find 20 of them walking around, you will be Unique – but This Dress Is $26.00. Okay, plus shipping.

The wonderful woman who is offering you this dress is Victoria, of Bella Amori Vintage on Etsy. She has a great eye, and great values, and she’s got a wonderful shop.

I have to say: if this dress ANYWHERE NEAR fit me it would be already sold, and I would simply be telling you about a great shop. Go there. Seriously.

Vintage size 10 leather pumps

Yes, I mentioned right in the title that these gorgeous shoes are Size 10. Why? Because it’s like clothing. Thelarger sizes – no, the not-tiny sizes – are just harder to find. People grab them up quickly.

vintage size 10 cognac leather pumps

I mean seriously, are these shoes not grabbable! And if you wear a size 10, isn’t it harder to find good, well preserved, fabulous vintage shoes? Yes. And look at the details here – these are great shoes.

I found these beauties at a darling vintage shop on Etsy called Preservation Road. Michele, the owner/curator, has some fabulous finds – and a good eye. Even more important, her pics are clear and informative, showing you the info you need to buy online. This skill is all too rare!

Go there. You’ll thank me. And if these beauteous shoes are gone when you visit, you could maybe let her know you’re on the hunt 😉

Fuschia pink vintage dress – plus size!

Okay, first, this is a gorgeous dress, which is the most important thing. And I almost hate to say it’s “plus size”. A great dress is a great dress! But if you’re a vintage shopper, you know as well as I do that anything larger than size 4 disappears as fast as it appears on the shelves. People are always on the lookout!

fuschia pink plus size vintage dress

Wouldn’t you feel like a million bucks in this dress? It’s officially a Size 14 – but look at that shape and style. Anybody from a 10 to a 16 could wear it, I bet. Belt it, wear it with flats for a fun daytime dress, and of course with bare sandals or stilettos for a knock-em-dead party dress.

And it’s silk. Now to me, silk is not this untouchable too-good-to-be-true fabric. To me it’s wearable, usually totally washable (the only danger being a bit of shrinkage, so try it if the dress is a little loose anyway) – comfortable year round, because the fabric breathes – and, well, it FEELS good.

I found this treasure at Six Cats Fun Vintage boutique on Etsy. Juliet, the shop owner/curator, has some fabulous finds there – and great prices – and colors you are going to love for Spring.

Check it out. Seriously, you’re going to thank me!
