First I have to say I love this color, so I’m biased. But aren’t these gorgeous?
They’re neutral – but not dull and boring. The classic octagon jewel is a wonderful necklace focal, whether you display it simply on a chain or add a cluster of pearls, filigree or gems. The oval earring jewels are great slipped on an earwire “as is” but they can also be made into jewelry connectors (one loop or ring at each end of the setting) so you can use them in bracelets, to connect pearls and gems to your classic rhinestones – the possibilities are practically endless. You can even get them in a no-ring, closed back setting and turn them into button earrings.
So: classic smoky topaz. Gorgeous faceting. Great with a summer tan or winter blacks. And when you do it yourself – well, you know how much you save? A lot (four bucks and change versus, well, whatever the traffic will bear in a jewelry shop).
Win-win 🙂
Possibly I am obsessing over great vintage finds these days – and when I saw these pumps? Oh my 😉
Now some people would think of these as “Fall” season shoes. Au contraire! Think about it: this is June. I would wear these today, with a white wiggle dress. Sleeveless. Black and/or brown piping or square neckline. Sleeveless. Big white earrings. Bangles out the yazoo. Can’t you see it?
And then yes, come fall, pull out the Classic Black Suit (vintage of course), add brown Chanel belt and bag (hey, we can dream) and you will look like a million bucks.
These shoes? Def part of that look. Love it.
And bonus! These are available at Sweet Nancy Vintage shop on Etsy – and she is moving cross country – everything is ON SALE. Go shopping there – you will thank me!
I’m revisiting one of my favorite vintage shops, JDBok on Etsy and found this fabulous dress:
Is that not a wonderful dress? Great for summer days or nights. Dress it up or down. Girly – but comfortable I think. I’d wear it with flat sandals or very bare high heels – and great big hoop earrings. Big tote bag. Sunscreen. Vivid lipstick. Killer.
And: it is $30.00. For this great, you’ll wear it forever, dress. You see why I love this shop?
(Note – if the dress is sold when you go peek, believe me there are more goodies. Win-win!)
These little jewel charms are just a fun way to add a bit of color to your summer outfit!
These are just a smidge under 1″ high. Large enough to be noticed – but still lightweight and delicate. Add some earwires and you’re good to go. Or find a silver chain, add a jump ring to this fuschia charm, and you’ve got a darling little lavalier necklace.
Does it seem like fuschia is my favorite color? Summer sandals, summer dress… no, fuschia’s not my fave color. But it’s a good one. Sometimes you just want a girly punch of pink!
Amethyst is another one of those rhinestone colors that’s popular, beautiful – and maddening. Take a look at these examples. They are all “deep amethyst purple glass jewels”. You’d think that would be pretty much the same color but you know, not so much.
You see what I mean? Beautiful colors (and yes they’re available in my Etsy shop). And they really are amethyst purple, with rich deep color. And they are all different colors. I know it must get confusing sometimes!
Fortunately they really are lovely colors – and they don’t have to all be matchy-matchy to look great together.
(But still…a little confusing, maybe?)
This embroidered vintage bag is pretty, it’s fun, and it can totally make your summer outfits 🙂

Love the colors – and the embroidered heron bird! And on the practical side, it’s big enough to hold your necessary stuff (about 10″ x 9″) but small enough that it’s not going to weigh a lot. You could dress it up (imagine with a white or red cheongsam!) – or down, with your basic white tank and cutoffs. You see what I mean.
And? It is super affordable – only $15.00! I found it in a lovely Etsy shop called Thrifthound 2000 and the owner has LOTS of fabulous buys. I mean, a black tank bodycon jumpsuit for $14.00, wear it if you dare! And more. Lots of goodies, lots of bargains, and bottom line? Cool, unusual, vintage, and affordable.
This is a win 😉
This isn’t a new idea – but it’s so beautifully illustrated here, I just wanted to share.
Super organized – and as a bonus, attractive do-it-yourself jewelry storage! I love the way this makes a wall display – and at the same time lets you see your accessories. If you can’t find it, you can’t wear it!
So: go to the dollar store – or find used trays at garage sales – bonus points for recycling and rethinking! Anyway – find one or three cutlery trays, or if you have a lot of jewelry, make more than one column. Show off your jewelry, get organized, and have a fabulous wall graphic all at the same time.
(And it’l cost you, what – $3.00? $6.00? Talk about a win-win!)
P.S. Yes, I found this over on Pinterest. Love!
Now this is what I call a great year-round find. I’m pretty much looking for spring and summer stuff right now, naturally, and this totally caught my eye. Did I mention Audrey Hepburn lately?
So yes, it made me think of Audrey. With ballet flats maybe. And this cardigan and gray cami top, and a white circle skirt? Yes. Ballet flats. Maybe a little pearl choker, maybe not.
See how vintage clothing can be inspiring? I saw this color and loved it. Then my imagination kind of took over.
This is available from Fairseason on Etsy and if it happens to be gone when you go look, believe me there are lots of other goodies you’re going to want to see. Did I mention the bodycon denim cami dress for (wait for it) $27.00?
Yes, you really need to go look. This shop is a find!
Glass jewels. Rhinestone jewels. Glass beads. Nomenclature is interesting. And hey, these are such a luscious color!
I just found these again and I feel like I won a prize. They look good on practically every woman – dark or light skin, young or old – and the faceted octagon shape is reminiscent of jewelers’ emerald cut: very classy. And they were very popular last time I had them. So yeah, I feel good about scoring some more 🙂
Yes they’re in my Etsy shop!
That simple title doesn’t do this dress justice. This cute little garment could be a summer classic!
This is a good, maybe great, basic spring or summer dress. You could wear it on a cool evening with a little cashmere cardigan, or white bolero, fitted. You might add a black patent leather belt, and white button earrings. Or, go to the other side of the Force, and envision Madonna in the 80s – okay, this would have been costume dressing for her, but so what? Find some BIG hoop earrings, and bare bare stilettos, or gladiator sandals, or go back to Audrey and Givenchy and wear ballet flats.
I’d add a crinoline, myself. Talk about making your waist look smaller – just add a petticoat. Big fluffy twirly hem plus fitted waist equals SMALL waist. Us girls are clever that way.
It’s available from Dusk Till Dawn Vintage and not only is this shop full of terrific goodies, but they are AFFORDABLE goodies. A secretary’s top that looks good – for $8.00. Vintage cowboy boots for $45.00. You get the idea. Even if these treasures are gone soon (and they will be) – this shop has a rep for good value and great finds.
I mean, talk about win-win. And this green dress? Okay, if not black patent, how about bright red? Button earrings. Bangle bracelets. Big straw hat. Jackie sunglasses. Love it.
