Because these glass jewels are beautiful – and easy to use – they appeal even to people who don’t have the patience for fussy detail work. And who like sparkly, feminine, classic jewelry.

Because sometimes you want to get something gorgeous – and you haven’t got much time. Grab this set of pink teardrop jewels. Add earwires: voila, you have pretty and feminine earrings. Get a silver chain, slip a jump ring and clasp on. Your necklace is simple – classic – gorgeous. You could wear it tomorrow with your new black tee and black jeans: instant work appropriate – and girly.
You could wear it for your wedding. You could give it to your bride.
*This* is the nice thing about DIY – without spending a lot of money ($6.99 for the set!) and with only a few minutes work, you just made something pretty and useful. And it’s done. And it’s easy.
These peach “cushion cut” octagon glass jewels are new in my shop – and they are getting some wonderful attention. Girly? yes. Wearable? yes. And, well, they’re gorgeous.
This faceted octagon cut just looks classy, whenever I see it – and I’ve been seeing it a lot of places. It’s a wonderful bridal jewel, it’s beautiful for party jewelry, and it’s also wearable for work – it’s not huge and dangling. It’s just a pretty, sparkly gem – okay, glass gem – that’s perfect for DIY earrings.
Or gifts, of course 😉
This pretty teardrop style is very popular in my Etsy shop right now. They’re about 1″ long – big enough to have real presence but not super heavy – and they have lovely sparkle. And a little extra something…
These are just some of the colors that are available – and the really fun part is that you can choose the color of those tiny rhinestones at the top. I show crystal (sparkly clear ones) mostly here – but you’ve got lots of choices, and there’s a drop-down menu on each listing so you can specify what color you want.
It’s a great way to tailor your jewelry to truly match your outfit – or maybe your bridesmaid dresses 😉
Because emerald is always flattering – much easier to wear than, say, olivine green (which I think is tangy and interesting and wonderful). But these emerald glass jewels? Rich and classic – and gorgeous. And: teardrops, because this is the most feminine wonderful shape.
And of course, it’s a Christmas color. Your earrings can be holiday(ish) and still be gorgeous! If, you know, you aren’t in the mood for Little Elf or candy cane jewelry to wear with your new LBD: velvet, long-sleeved, vee-neck (front AND back) dress.
Add earwires and your earrings are done. There’s enough fuss and frazzle in the world: make your DIY, fabulous, expensive (looking) earrings be easy.
Plus: May birthstone. Just in case you need to know that 🙂
The faceted rhinestone shape called “cushion cut” is one of the hottest trends I’m seeing lately. This octagon with rounded corners is appearing on high-end and trendy jewelry – and such a classy style!
These measure about 1/2″ x 1/2″ – a great size to add sparkle every day, without being too much. Of course the siam red color is perfect for holidays and Christmas.
I also have classic crystal (clear) stones available in my Etsy shop, as well as black diamond – and other colors on the way. These make great DIY earrings – check them out!
This glass (rhinestone) jewels set has been super popular lately – I think because it’s a rich color that looks good year round, and it probably doesn’t hurt that amethyst is the ‘color of love’ 🙂
And hey. Beautiful vintage jewels in an easy-to-use pendant and earring jewels set – add a chain, add earwires, and you’re good to go? This is a win!
Yes they’re available in my Etsy jewelry supplies shop. But you knew that 🙂
Since I saw that fabulous wedding gown (see previous post), I couldn’t resist showing you these pretty jewels – they’re perfect for a bride!
Of course they’d be lovely for other occasions but there are a couple of reason I think particularly of weddings. One of course is the beautiful sparkling crystal navette jewels Second: the low cost. Both those aspects are particularly attractive when you’re planning your wedding 😉
The third main reason is that this lovely feminine shape and size will sparkle beautifully – but they’re not large and heavy. They’ll be comfy and they won’t compete with your gown. Or with you.
And you should be the star of your wedding – not your jewelry. I’m a jewelry designer and I sell jewelry supplies and I’m serious. You = the star. Your wedding. That’s the way it ought to be!
I was putting together an order yesterday, and it just happened to be mostly what I think of as “spring” colors. I think she was planning ahead! But as I looked at them on my worktable, I couldn’t help but think – how fresh and pretty they looked. It’s barely the beginning of winter, but spring is already calling to me.
Take a look at these, just for example:
All colors have their own charm, and often you want clear crystal, or neutrals. But sometimes? A pretty aqua, or sparkling peridot green, can add just the lift you need on a gray winter day.
And then when the sun comes out? Wow!
Or, well, Part Next because I can’t remember if I did Part Two or Three already. But these are definitely “do it yourself” earring designs. This was another little instanteous assignment I gave myself – “okay, create a few earring designs using just what’s sitting here on the desk in front of you right now”.
This is what I got:
Once again, i didn’t try to “match” colors. I just played with simple combinations of stones (and one ornament, the silver-ish flower) I had sitting on my work table. These would all be simple to make, using jump rings or wire wrapping with other small beads. Okay, they’re not Tiffany’s, but they’re doable and fun and would look gorgeous on you. And they don’t cost much. And you can do it.
And until you hit the lottery, doesn’t that work for you?
P.S. Oops! Yes, these components are all available in my Etsy shop.
Really the title says it all. I think people respond well to color – I love it myself, I love the fun and vitality of it. But there’s something to be said for using classic, sparkling rhinestones. Like these:
They are always flattering, they go with everything, and women from 15 to 50 wear them happily. Correction: from, what, 10 to 90? I’m not sure – but from time to time, we ALL like a little bling and sparkle 🙂
If you’re a jewelry designer, or simply making gifts for your loved ones (or yourself) you really can’t go wrong with crystal rhinestones. There’s a reason they call them “classics”.
P.S. And yes, that link takes you to my Etsy shop. Like you didn’t know that 🙂
