There’s still time to get some pretty golden topaz rhinestones for your November birthday gifts (well if you’re in the U.S. anyway… it’d be a bit of a stretch for overseas). And using the birthstone color is a simple, pretty way to personalize your jewelry gifts!
Yes, it seems almost too good to be true – add leverbacks or french earwires and your DIY earrings are ready! (And if you need clip-on earring components just let me know, we can do that).
You can fuss some other time, and spend a lot more money. But you don’t need to. Make a pretty pendant necklace or personalized earrings for your gift-ee. She’ll love them 🙂
This is just a quick note to mention my strong belief that a handmade gift, even a simple one, is extra special to our loved ones. And there’s no reason you need to spend a fortune to make that gift. Find a pair of faceted glass jewels, and make a pretty necklace or pair of earrings 🙂
Even better? Find that lovely pair of jewels where there’s a Buy One Get One Free sale – like my shop tomorrow! You can make a gift for a loved one – and a pair of earrings for yourself too 🙂
For tomorrow only, September 29, 2017, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., every pair of glass (rhinestone) jewels is available at BOGO. Buy one pair, and get your choice for the second pair (equal or lesser value).
PS This is a great opportunity to get the color your mom loves. A gift for Mom – and for you too. Win!
This is really just a reminder that it’s fun to mix colors and shapes when you create your own jewelry, or make jewelry for sale or for gifts. Adding a bit of whimsy just makes the pieces more interesting. Case in point, a simple example:
And the “personalized” part? You can choose your favorite colors. Or your birthstone colors combined with your boyfriend’s. Or make a gift for your mom using the birthstone colors of you and your siblings. If you don’t see the colors you need in my jewelry supplies shop, just ask – I’ve almost always got more jewels (and colors) than I’ve had a chance to list!
You see what I mean, anyway – play with new shapes and color combos. It’s fun, it’s inexpensive, and it’s cute!
This delicate jonquil yellow is another color that’s really popular right now – and I just got more of these pretty oval jewels 🙂

These are a pretty color anytime – but they do feel like Spring, don’t they? And if you’d like to make a Mother’s Day gift there’s still time – these are easy to use, affordable, and have a sweet sparkle.
And she’ll love that you thought of her 🙂
These golden brass, triple rhinestone settings have three glass jewels – and if your mom has three kids, you can pick those three birthstone colors to customize her Mother’s Day gift!
Don’t let the closeup fool you, these are tiny rhinestones. These beads are great used as jewelry connectors, but also wonderful when you use them exactly “as is” for delicate drop earrings. (You can get these without the little ring on the bottom, if you prefer.) If your mom likes really Out There big earrings, add showy emerald teardrops at the bottom ring. But if delicate is her style? She’s going to adore these tiny treasures 🙂
And she’ll love that you thought of it!
If you visit my shop occasionally you may remember these from last year – I finally got more in! Peridot green glass octagon gems – or “framed glass pendant or earring jewels” as they are often called. Me? I just love the color 🙂
And, just thought I’d mention, peridot is the birthstone color for August. If your mom has an August birthday, these would make an awesome pair of earrings, or framed glass pendants.
See? Such a cool color – and an easy DIY gift for mom 🙂
These pretty rose pink vintage glass jewels are actually a restock and I was so happy to find some more! They’re just under 1/2″ wide and great used “as is” for necklace or earring gems – but as you can see, they’re terrific in this multi-stone, “two jewel” setting.
The settings are available in silver, patina brass and golden raw brass – and the color combos shown are lovely. But the extra nice thing is that you can customize, so you can make a gift for mom with her favorite “pink plus color” combo!
Because pink is such a pretty Spring color 🙂
Of course there are lots of pink glass gems in my Etsy shop. And if there’s a shape or size you can’t find, just ask me – I might have some or can find some for you. But I just wanted to show some easy DIY pendant and earring beads that don’t cost a lot of money or take a lot of work.
And these would make a wonderful jewelry set for Mother’s Day. Just saying 🙂
And here’s another idea – a necklace design that could incorporate birthstone colors. Of course this is just one possible style – but sometimes it’s fun to look at designs!
This particular design features a large teardrop-shaped focal pendant in aqua, the birthstone color for March; as well as round rivoli-faceted jewels in crystal (crystal or diamond is the birthstone for April), more aqua blue, and bright red – ruby or siam red is the birthstone color for July.
Obviously you’ll want to customize these colors for your own mom’s necklace – with the shapes and very personal colors of your own design 🙂
Birthstone colors, that is. Yes, I’m mentioning this idea again – because it’s so easy to do, and if you’re DIYing or making gifts, it’s nice that there’s a simple, pretty way to make jewelry that’ll be really personal for her.
These delicate earring drops (or tiny pendant) are shown with pink glass gems – the October birthstone colors are pink, or pink opal, or rose quartz – and peridot green, the birthstone color for August. You can choose customized, personalized colors – that’s the whole point.
Easy to do, inexpensive, and personal – this makes a great gift for Mom!
Or for you 🙂
