I was getting low on the red glass gems in my shop – in these shapes, I mean – they are among the most popular shapes and sizes. Just got a resupply!
The round glass stones are 10mm in diameter – that’s approximately 3/8″. They’re great for small(ish) earrings “as is” – but they pair wonderfully with so many other shapes! For instance the octagons shown here. Which, just for the record, is probably the first or second most popular shape glass stone in my shop. They’re super for pendants, connectors, and earrings. So useful!
If you make jewelry, and especially if you buy supplies online, like so many of us do – I’m sure you’ve noticed that red glass gems can vary a lot in tone, from deep red (almost burgundy) to the bright red in these jewels. Both colors popular and useful. But I love the clear vivid red in these stones. I think you’ll will too!
P.S. And if you’re thinking ahead – do I need to mention Christmas? Yeah, you thought of that already!
I thought it might be handy to post the birthstone colors for each month of the year – this pic is the first one, to show birthstones from January through April:
Right now it’s a little late for January birthstone gifts, since this is the last day of January 2022 (how is that possible!) – but it’s always good to know what colors are on point. And February, March and April birthstones are good to know about too.
Come back soon to see birthstone colors for the rest of the year!
More pretty red and green glass gems are on sale through this weekend! And I deliberately chose (for this pic) jewels that are sheer – and foil backed. And different shapes. These could be combined in so many creative ways (that’s your thing!) – and of course there are many more to choose from in my Etsy shop.
Christmas is only five weeks away! So this is a great time to get some gorgeous red and green glass jewels (or beads!) – and right now they’re on sale too.
From today through midnight on Sunday, November 21, 2021, if you buy any of my glass gems in red or green, just send me a message and tell me what pair you want for FREE! Equal or lesser value, and it’s limited to stock on hand. But I’ve resupplied so I’ve got quite a few red and green glass gems. They’re beautiful – and on sale. Go for it!
Just for fun – imagine some pretty glass teardrop jewels combined with delicate brass filigree. Now add Christmas colors 🙂
Wouldn’t that be fun to wear to a Christmas party?
Of course the other thing this picture reminds me of, is that when we design our own jewelry (or clothing, or home interiors) we can combine the colors we love – and have fun with it!
Isn’t that what DIY is all about? Use what you love – create – you can make it work!
Yes, it seems a little early to be thinking about Christmas! But you know, if you’re going to make Christmas presents – or even more, if you’re going to make jewelry you hope to sell for Christmas gifts – it’s definitely time!
Of course this is just one example of how you could combine “Christmas colors” into a pretty and fun pair of earrings. And I’ll be showing more in the next few days. But even more – this is just to get your creative juices ticking. Combine unusual colors – or go classic with red and green.
Think of combos, sizes and shapes that your best friend would love – that your sister would love – or your mom. (And hey – that YOU would love!)
Don’t spend a lot of money – but rather, spend a little time inventing and creating. Creativity + low cost. This is a great idea for Christmas!
Yes, red is a Christmas color. That’s one of the reasons we’re looking specially at red teardrop jewels right now. But red’s gorgeous year-round and flattering to most people – that’s another (good) reason to keep it in mind.
(Click on link to find these red glass jewels – and more faceted stones – in my shop!)
And hey, just for a little extra incentive – mention this blog post when you buy, and you get a second pair of jewels (or pendant) free! The best kind of BOGO – useful *right now*. Limited to supplies on hand, and good through midnight on Monday, November 23, 2020.
Do it yourself jewelry for gifts, for friends, for customers. This is a great Christmas gift idea!
Really I was just playing with stones on my worktable, and getting a few new pics. Then I happened to place these together – and love them! Christmas colors of vivid red and emerald green, and a combination of the opaque smooth jewels and faceted emerald rounds – these totally work and they’re just so, well, so Christmas!
And if you order the cherry red ovals, you can send me a “note to seller” and request a pair of the emeralde green rounds – for free! Obviously it’s only while supplies last, and only for a few days – till midnight on October 30, 2020. But hey, what a cool Christmas earring idea!
I meant to post this earlier and I think my brain went away or something. It’s a simple DIY earring design idea – with a bit of sparkle, and a bit of Christmas green – great for holiday jewelry!
Of course you can use your favorite colors, and play with different shapes too. The basic idea is that you can mix colors and shapes and create some very fun earrings!
And as always – saving money on your jewelry and making Christmas gifts is a great year-round idea 😉
I know it’s early to be thinking of Christmas, but this is a weird year. If you could find some affordable jewelry components that would make a lovely necklace and earrings set, and you could do it easily, and it could be personalized however you chose, and it would be a wonderful gift – that would be a good idea.
So I put together some sheer emerald pears and hey, here’s that necklace and earring jewels set!
Of course it would work any time of year, for yourself or for gifts. Or customers. But Christmas really is coming, and why not save yourself a little time and work and make something wonderful – and easy? That’s a win!
Of course you know why I thought of Christmas when I made these earrings – hey, they’re red and green and sparkly. But honestly, they would look good anytime. And (also of course) you could use any color combination.
I am really fond of these. Partly because they have sparkly color that really shows up, but the jewels are small – so these would be really comfortable to wear all day long. And, the silver plated chains add such movement! That’s one of those classic design elements that I really love – with a minimum amount of work, the chains add a lot of style. It’s just a bit of extra fun, you know?
Really – take this idea and make it yours. And, or, maybe some Christmas earring gifts! Just because 🙂
