I thought these two components worked beautifully together! I’m loving the art-deco styled filigrees here, and with the two rings or loops it’s super easy to make fab earrings!  It’s so cool that we can make pretty earrings with easy to use components – I’m lazy, I don’t want to work too hard! (Hint – which you don’t need – this idea would be easy to customize for your giftee or customer. Use their birthstone colors, or fave shape – you get the idea!) I just got in some gold plated chain – it’s inexpensive, lightweight, and totally fun for DIY jewelry!   The second pic shows an earring design that’s one of my favorites – using the round glass jewels paired with golden chain ‘tassels’ makes lightweight earrings that have sparkle, and movement, and they are super fun to wear. Also flattering. Also inexpensive, especially with this gold plated chain. It’s not precious, just pretty. But you know, sometimes that’s just what we want! This is a really classic combination of faceted stones – sparkling crystal and faceted jet black stones. You could wear these earrings any time of year – and any time of day. But specially for evening chic!  Wear them to show off a summer tan – wear them for Christmas. And did I mention New Year’s? Absolutely! Black is always in style. Crystal sparkle, even more, and when the crystal is near your face, everything is just a bit brighter. This is of the good 🙂 You really can’t go wrong! Easy, affordable DIY earrings – great for you – great for gifts! No, this isn’t the “monsters on a chain” type Halloween jewelry. It’s actually pretty jewelry – that you can wear anywhere – only in black and orange, because it’s getting close to that time of year and hey, who doesn’t wear orange and black, just for fun, around Halloween time?  The orange teardrops are vintage glass cabochons – the black 10mm round rivoli jewels are new glass gems. I show them in different settings colors (silver plated brass, and golden brass) – because that’s when I had when I went to take a pic. Of course you can match the settings colors… …or not, as you like. That’s the fun part of making your own jewelry. You can make exactly what you want (and you don’t have to spend a lot of money!) And as always, it’s the details that make the difference. Tiny, pretty aqua rhinestones are set in patina brass or golden (raw) brass prong settings. The brass filigrees are a restock in my shop – my customers have been loving them and I totally agree – the flower filigree is so pretty!  Link the filigree flower connectors and gems with sturdy little jump rings, add earwires, and your fantastic chandelier earrings are ready to wear. And of course you can customize them with your own details – colors, gem shapes, and extra details you’ll think of and I didn’t. Still – the basic idea totally works – and they’re doable and affordable and you will love wearing them! Or gifting them. And the earrings are gorgeous! So there are a couple reasons I think this DIY earring design idea is special. For one thing, deep fuschia pink and crystal? Fuschia doesn’t always work – but when it does, it really does. And what color isn’t even better paired with sparkle?  And the combination of textures here – the smooth teardrops paired with the faceted ovals – adds a touch of complexity (while still being quick and easy to do). A (super) added plus – the fuschia pears are vintage. They’re from the 1950s I think – the original packaging has the importer’s telephone number – and there is no area code, it predates that. So we’re going back a ways 🙂 And these are great. Used “as is” or with the faceted crystal ovals, or with your own special combo, you’re going to have a terrific pair of DIY earrings! Yes, you read that right. These cute leaf spray links with two loops are on clearance sale! They’re antiqued-bronze finish over base metal – not precious, just pretty! And now they’re on super clearance sale in my shop 🙂 
The second pic is just one suggestion of how these leaf links could be used – you can see it’s an easy DIY earring design idea. I know you’ll come up with your own special design – and now you can do it when the links are on sale! Just while supplies last – you might not to wait too long. Besides, the clearance sale section is always fun to check out! I recently got in some new blue zircon rhinestone octagons in petite 10mm x 8mm size. These are perfect for glass connectors in two-ring prong settings – they’re also adorable small pendants and earring drops. And this gives you a size comparison for the three sizes I have in stock.  Partly the pic just helps to show scale. How big IS the 18x13mm size compared to the 10x8mm? Well you can see that here. You can also play with ideas, of combining the small stones with one larger centerpiece, for example…. or use all three sizes in a fantastic pendant or pair of earrings… or, well, you get the idea. Play with jewelry design ideas! Your imagination is free – and the stones are pretty inexpensive too 🙂 Here are some new (and some restocked!) vintage and new glass jewels in my shop – yes, they’re just in time for summer. But also? Pretty Fall 2018 jewelry designs!  Don’t you love the colors? I swear, more and more I am leaning toward pure tints, unfoiled stones – so I can really see the colors. Of course that can vary with each design, and every woman that wears these might see them differently – but I think we can all agree, we love beautifully faceted stones for earrings and necklace designs. Pure color is pretty terrific. Affordable stones is even better 🙂 (PS And there are more on the way – stay tuned or better yet, ask to see the colors YOU want to use in your designs!) Amethyst rhinestone teardrops combined with sparkling crystal rounds – in clear crystal, or colors – are a classic earring design. They’re also easy to create – and change to suit your own taste. These are just a few examples 🙂 
You see what I mean? Different color combos – and each looks great – so you know you can match your prom dress, bridesmaid colors, or just choose your favorite! That’s what DIY jewelry is all about – make what you want, the way you want it, and you don’t have to spend a lot of money! |
