New earring design idea – jewels and filigree :-)

I know it’s not a new concept – brass filigree paired with glass jewels. I do think it’s a pretty great one though – tell me what you think!

Take this basic concept – connectors paired with faceted rhinestones in prong settings. Then customize it – teardrop shapes, or your (customer’s) favorite color – you know the possibilities are endless!

It doesn’t have to cost a lot, and it doesn’t have to be fussy and difficult. Just pretty and fun to wear!

Stainless steel chain and jewelry findings

I’m getting in a new line of supplies – so I can offer stainless steel chain and basic jewelry findings in my Etsy shop. Once I’m sure about my supply line, and have field-tested the stainless steel, look for them in my store!

“Field test”, you ask? Well of course. This is a new line for me and I want to be sure the quality is as good as it’s supposed to be – and reliable. My main supply vendors purchase from several sources – U.S. I know, as well as UK, Thailand I think, China, and probably others I don’t know about. I’ve had wonderful quality – usually – but I also test 🙂

This is the first thing I’ve made for myself from my new chain 🙂

Just testing, you understand. I’ve been wearing it for a week – haven’t taken it off at all, and that includes swimming, washing dishes (by hand, darn it), playing with the dogs, raking leaves, as well as ordinary domestic stuff like vacuuming and laundry which doesn’t really affect jewelry but is a chore all the same 🙂

So far so good – no residue, no damage, nothing bad: I think I’ve got good stuff. Stay tuned!

Olivine glass rounds and teardrops for DIY earrings

Yes this is another DIY earring design idea! Simple, classy, and very pretty 🙂

DIY earring design featuring olivine rivoli faceted round glass jewels paired with olivine vintage teardrops

This is a closeup, so these jewels look sizeable – actually, they are small(ish). The round rivoli faceted gems are 8mm in diameter (which is between 1/4″ and 3/8″). The teardrops are a bit over 1/2″ long – they’re petite. Paired together, the earrings would be maybe 1-1/4″ long – yet as you can see, they have great presence.

So – easy to make, in a very interesting and wearable color that’s a bit unusual. The round jewels are new, the teardrops are vintage. A super combo – and affordable too.

I bet you have someone on your Christmas list who would love these. Or, what can I say, they’d be fabulous on…you!

Earring design idea with brass filigree and glass jewels

I thought these two components worked beautifully together! I’m loving the art-deco styled filigrees here, and with the two rings or loops it’s super easy to make fab earrings!

It’s so cool that we can make pretty earrings with easy to use components – I’m lazy, I don’t want to work too hard!

(Hint – which you don’t need – this idea would be easy to customize for your giftee or customer. Use their birthstone colors, or fave shape – you get the idea!)

Ruby red glass jewels and a BOGO sale

Sometimes you want rich color! I’ve just gotten a new supply of these gorgeous red rhinestone ovals – perfect rhinestone pendants and earrings. Or connectors, if you use two-ring (two-loop) settings.

Of course these red glass gems would be wonderful for Christmas – but truly they are fabulous year-round. Make red a new “neutral” with black, brown, navy, gray – it brightens your whole outfit. And right now, I’m offering a buy-one-get-one-free BOGO special! From today through midnight on October 12, 2018, when you buy one pair of these pretties, you can get a second pair free (or dicker for another pair of rhinestones, equal or lesser value).

So don’t wait. Red glass gems – wonderful for you or a DIY gift – and they’re on sale!

DIY earring design idea

I wanted to share a simple, classic earring design – maybe just as a reminder that a pair of earrings don’t have to be fussy or complex (or super expensive) to be beautiful.

DIY earring design idea featuring amethyst ovals and light amethyst tiny rhinestones

I’ve just gotten in the light amethyst tiny rhinestones, and paired them with the aqua rhinestone ovals in a “duo” setting – and I love the way they turned out. This is a simple idea – a duo setting, pretty faceted stones, and you add earwires – and the earrings are terrific.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Do you need some earrings to match your bridesmaid colors? Or you just want an unusual color combo because they’re your faves?

Just let me know your colors – I bet we can do that!

P.S. You’re thinking of your mom’s favorite colors now, aren’t you? Thinking ahead to Christmas. Well we can do that too (and she’ll love them!)

FREE shipping – read the details below!

Hey, I decided to try a little experiment. From today through 12/31/18, I’m offering FREE SHIPPING – first class USPS on all domestic U.S. orders that total over $40.00 USD 🙂 And I’m not neglecting my international customers either, I love you guys! Well right after anyway (it might take a few hours till I see it!)

It’s an extra perk for my customers, hey, free or discounted shipping is pretty cool. And if it helps convince a new customer to try my shop, well that’s good for me too. So this is a win-win.

My pic today is just a few earring design ideas I’ve put together – some are new, some not. And I’ll be posting more soon – stay tuned and come back soon!

Gold plated chain – affordable chain for DIY jewelry

I just got in some gold plated chain – it’s inexpensive, lightweight, and totally fun for DIY jewelry!

DIY earring design featuring round glass jewels and gold plated chain

The second pic shows an earring design that’s one of my favorites – using the round glass jewels paired with golden chain ‘tassels’ makes lightweight earrings that have sparkle, and movement, and they are super fun to wear. Also flattering.

Also inexpensive, especially with this gold plated chain. It’s not precious, just pretty. But you know, sometimes that’s just what we want!

DIY earring design idea – crystal and black rhinestones

This is a really classic combination of faceted stones – sparkling crystal and faceted jet black stones. You could wear these earrings any time of year – and any time of day. But specially for evening chic!

Wear them to show off a summer tan – wear them for Christmas. And did I mention New Year’s? Absolutely!

Black is always in style. Crystal sparkle, even more, and when the crystal is near your face, everything is just a bit brighter. This is of the good 🙂

You really can’t go wrong! Easy, affordable DIY earrings – great for you – great for gifts!

Blue zircon glass pendant

You know how I mentioned I was going to get in some more blue zircon glass jewels? Well here ya go 🙂
