Do it yourself jewelry design ideas – isn’t that one of the things you love to check out online? I know I do 🙂 Case in point – these sparkling, pretty, easy to use glass (rhinestone) teardrops that are customizable too!
The customizable part? You can choose the color of the tiny rhinestones at the top of the setting. Her birthstone color? Use that 🙂 She loves purple? Choose that! (Yes, there are other colors of the main teardrop stone available, too.)

Or – just something to consider in future – you can combine birthstones. Make a necklace or earrings that combine emerald for May, and September for sapphire – there are so many possibilities for DIY jewelry designs.

You know that sparkling stud earrings are always in style, right? Sometimes you don’t want dangling earrings getting in the way – or you want to appear demure and shy. (Yeah, hey, it could be, right?)
Stud earring jewels (or button earrings, depending on who’s talking) are super popular in my shop right now – so I thought I would show you a few more new colors and shapes 🙂
These are well faceted, pretty glass “jewels” – super affordable compared to precious gemstones – and honestly? Unless you’ve got thousands to spend on one pair of earrings, these are going to be prettier!
I wanted to show off a few more of the items currently offered in my “Clearance Sale” section”. These are really lovely glass gems, and I have a fair number left. When they’re gone they’re gone, but right now the pickings are good!

And yes, I thought of these colors because of St. Patrick’s Day 🙂 Though I have to admit, emerald (whether rhinestone or gemstone) is one of my fave colors! It’s flattering, it’s pretty much always in style, and if I happen to have red hair sometimes, well, you got me 🙂
Either way, emerald looks good! And combined with these smaller sapphire rhinestone octagons, you’ve got a smashing DIY earrings idea. Of course you’ll customize it with personalized colors, and your own creative touch. Go for it!
I just wanted to show you a DIY necklace design idea that combines ‘fine'(ish) jewelry components – with “just rhinestones”. The necklace chain here combines Bali sterling silver, freshwater pearls, and gemstone amethyst rondelles. The pendant is a faceted rhinestone (glass) teardrop in a silver plated setting.
Both the rhinestone teardrop – and the fancy necklace – look great. They complement each other beautifully. I just want to remind myself (and you too) that nothing is off the table! Use what you have. Combine metals – brass and sterling. Combine components – glass or rhinestones, and genuine stones and pearls.
If it looks good, if you like the combo, you can make it work. It’s YOUR design, it’s your necklace and your creation. It’s all good!
I totally lucked out, I’ve been able to resupply these adorable vintage black glass teardrops! I was almost out and thought I wouldn’t be able to get them again. But my Secret Stash Supply Guys were able to find some more, woo hoo!
These are petite, 14x10mm (that’s approx. 5/8″ x 3/8″) – perfect when you want a strong neutral that has presence but not a lot of weight (so, comfy earrings!)
These are great used “as is” for earrings or pendants, but they’re also fab when paired with strong color. Turquoise beads handwired to dangle from your pendant? Great. Red rounds? Check.
You get the idea. Neutral, or colorful – these are so useful! And they’re in great shape for their age (from the packaging, I think 1950s). Practically instant Christmas gifts? Super wear-them-tonight earrings? You got it!
I just restocked a couple of these pretty filigree charms – and wanted to point out how useful they are for your DIY jewelry – and of course, for your Christmas gifts too! Add pretty jewels or charms, and turn them into pendants or earrings with your own special creative touch.
