One more brillig idea for your home – this one is so handy and so cheap, you’re totally going to be inspired. Trust me 😉
Found at my favorite, Apartment Therapy comes this fabulous redo. From this:
To this:

From something you’ll find for free on Craigslist, or maybe $3.00 at a garage sale – an old TV or microwave cart. And with a small amount of work – cleaning, a bit of paint, some wallpaper or other patterned paper (recycled magazine pages? wrapping paper?) – maybe some drawer pulls – presto! You have a charming, attractive, useful new piece of furniture that you’ll be proud to call your own!
And to say “I did it myself!”. You know: priceless 🙂
Yes, this is a wonderful vintage find for you home, rather than a sparkly pretty thing to wear. But it’s something you could see every day, and it will make you smile, and it’s vintage, so these are good things.
And:
You see my point, yes? This little fellow has such charm that he’ll give you a bit of happiness whenever you sit down at your (thrifted or Craigslist or Thonet, for that matter) desk.
And if he should happen to be sold when you go to find (and buy) him, the shop owner Bonnie at VintageRingo on Etsy has many fun and adorable finds. Go peek, you’ll see what I mean!
P.S. Besides: VintageRingo. With such a wonderful name, how can you resist!
Just for fun – feel like a 1950s mom! I found an adorable, genuine 1950s Christmas apron complete with poinsettias – which is cute and funky and wouldn’t it be more fun to cook in this apron? I mean, if you’re going to do it, you might as well feel all Mom Cleaver, right?

This darling apron is available at A Blast 2 the Past – a great vintage shop on Etsy. The shop owner, Cathy, obviously appreciates the fun image of TV moms – that’s her cool pic above!
I mean, who wouldn’t like to role-play (a little bit anyway) and be Lucille Ball, Donna Reed, or Barbara Billingsley?
And then go back to real life and take-out, maybe. But still!
P.S. And what a great gift for your mom!
P.P.S. And if this particular apron is gone when you visit her shop – believe me, she’s got some great finds there. You’ll love it!
I know the minute you see this skirt you’re going to think the same thing I did: this is a GREAT skirt!

Is that not fabulous? It’s available from McGregorGirl Vintage on Etsy and I have to say, she has some fabulous items – and very affordable fabulous items. Her shop is going on my favorites list!
P.S. I included the second pic here because I love the whole outfit. The shoes, the top, the glasses… and oh yes, the gloves! This is a girl who knows how to present her vintage items. She stages well. She has good feedback. She has great pricing. This is a shop to remember!
Interesting: I was scanning through British ‘Glamour’ magazine’s Street Style pages recently, just because it’s fun to see what real people – young, pretty, and stylish, but still real people – are actually wearing. I saw a lot of interesting outfits, which of course is why I look.
NOT ONE person I’ve seen so far, has been wearing high heels. None. Flats, boots, trainers (sneakers), you name it: no stilettos. Maybe the Brits know something about comfort *and* style that we haven’t quite got to yet?
In that spirit, I’ve found some yummy vintage boots over at Etsy. Love these:
Because those are like the greatest vintage boots on the planet. And then, there are these:
I don’t usually use this word (acronym) because it’s so overused, but this time I have to: OMG, this woman’s got some great stuff in her shop! She’s Sazzafrazaz on Etsy and, well, like I said: the greatest vintage boots on the planet.
AND great prices too. If these boots are gone, BELIEVE me you’ll find more to love. Go! Yes, I meant now!
It’s Memorial Day weekend, the last full weekend in May, and for those of us in the U.S., this is the start of summer. And it’s finally nice outside, after the weirdest May in quite a while (rain, snow, and temperatures ranging from 30 to 100, and I’m not kidding).
So my thoughts turn to summer dresses, which are wonderful and beautiful and my favorite way to dress, and comfortable and pretty and do you get the idea I like summer dresses? That would be yes.
So you know I was happy to find these lovely dresses, in an Etsy shop that’s new to me, called Folk and Fables.
She has some wonderful vintage items – like these:

You see what I mean about lovely – and the dresses cost just $28 and $48 – so fabulous! And if those dresses have already been bought when you go to peek – believe me, there are a lot of pretties in this shop.
Go there! Yes, I meant right away – you’re going to love it 🙂
There’s something wonderful about wearing a vintage wedding gown on your special day. But once I started looking, I realized how expensive they can be, even in vintage!
So I was thrilled to find *two* beautiful wedding dresses at Sweet Nancy Vintage at Etsy:

Aren’t they gorgeous? One is a size 8, one is a Size 12 – ah ha! Not just Size 4s. And the cost? $95 and $125! Yes, you read that right! Oh my 🙂
Truly, if those gowns are sold when you go to look, believe me you’ll find other treasures there. What are you waiting for? Go shopping!
You know I”m always hunting (low key or top priority, depending) for lovely vintage frocks – my favorite way to dress. Interesting, flattering, unique, low cost compared to the high end stuff I’d want otherwise – AND it’s good for the planet. This is a win/win!
Sorry, I got sidetracked 🙂 Today I mostly just want to share this totally yummy dress I just found:

Is that a fabulous dress or what! Look at the detailing, the flattering cut, the total wearability – day or not-too-dressy evening. With the short sleeves, it’ll be great in springtime and summer – but you won’t freeze when you’re inside with air conditioning.
And it’s meant for a woman with curves! So in love with this one.
And I’m very impressed with the offerings at Youthstep – Vintage shop on Etsy. You can find some lovely and unusual items. And she’s very careful to describe the condition of her items – the hallmark I think of a quality shop.
Like I said – a win/win 🙂
So it’s all snowy and cold here and I’m tucked inside like I should be, all warm and cozy. Of course my thoughts strayed to Spring – gardening, and sunshine, and (you knew it) spring dresses. I took a little break and went on over to Etsy for my “mini spring vacation” and look what I found!
and
Aren’t those adorable dresses? They’re available at Thread Over Heels at Etsy. Not only are they cute, they are also super affordable!
And this may come out wrong, but I was so glad to see such cute dresses in larger sizes – it’s a lot easier to find Size 2 dresses in vintage, probably because so few people are that skinny. So – a shop with cute, affordable clothes for women of ALL sizes – this is a great find!
So you’re looking for glam, you’re looking for classy, you’re looking for that very special gown? Have I found a goodie for you 🙂

Vintage White Beaded Gown
It’s available at Anxiously Red Vintage at Etsy. If this wonderful gown is gone, when you go to look – never fear. She’s got LOTS of wonderful goodies, terrific pricing, and great feedback – you’ll find something you love in her shop 🙂
P.S. And don’t forget to check out her retro shoes. Wowza!
