And here’s another idea – a necklace design that could incorporate birthstone colors. Of course this is just one possible style – but sometimes it’s fun to look at designs!
This particular design features a large teardrop-shaped focal pendant in aqua, the birthstone color for March; as well as round rivoli-faceted jewels in crystal (crystal or diamond is the birthstone for April), more aqua blue, and bright red – ruby or siam red is the birthstone color for July.
Obviously you’ll want to customize these colors for your own mom’s necklace – with the shapes and very personal colors of your own design 🙂
Does it seem like I”m obsessed with color these days? Well, yeah. It’s winter (warmish here but still, winter) – it’s gray – and color is always a cheerful pick-me-up. Pretty, charming, happy color doesn’t cost any more than gloomy gray.
(Yes I like neutral gray sometimes. Don’t stop me, I’m orating.)
For instance, take these pretty colors:
Pair these aqua glass connectors and melon orange cabochon two-jewel beads. Or use them separately. The point is, pretty color. Doesn’t cost a lot. Always makes you feel better.
It really does 🙂
Pretty color combinations for Spring 2017 – this is really what it’s all about. Do it yourself – DIY – should be easy, fun, affordable. Your projects should be enjoyable. Your jewelry should look good. It’s simple 🙂
So I’m just showing you a few pretty colors, and a few easy shape combinations. This isn’t rocket science. This is supposed to be fun – and make you look good. Give these earrings and necklaces as gifts. Make some to sell at craft shows. Wear them to the prom.
Easy, pretty, affordable. Life is complicated enough – but DIY jewelry? Is part of the fun stuff 🙂
I just wanted to share this new combo with you all – we’re still in the middle of winter, and a little rich color just looks good, yknow?
It’s a striking combo – and just a reminder, that trying new colors and shapes is an easy, simple way to play with ideas. Green and purple? Why not?
If you don’t feel like being all Valentine-y or just don’t like to wear red, why not go in a totally other direction? For example, these black enamel filigree charms are great with jewels, pearls, or beads added as a dangle – but they’re also terrific used As Is.
Slip on an earwire, and these are ready to wear. Or fit a jump ring into one of those little openings around the edge of the charm, put the jump ring on a chain, and: black enamel necklace. Wear it anytime, anywhere.
Fine jewelry can be exquisitely detailed, intricately crafted, and expensive. “Fashion” jewelry – and hey, what’s wrong with fashion? – can be fun and affordable. Life is complicated enough already, you know? This is not rocket science. These black filigrees are $1.00 a pair. Make it easy on yourself – DO it yourself. These look good, they’re cheap, they’re fun.
Sometimes it really is that simple 🙂
This is not a revolutionary idea – but this year I’m going to point out occasionally, how making your own jewelry for gifts, for yourself, or to sell, can save – or make – you money. First idea: “buy the set and save”.
These particular glass beads would cost $4.79 if purchased separately from my shop – the set here costs $3.99. Already you’re saving a bit of money. Of course there are many talented jewelry artists who can provide you with beautiful necklace and earring sets – but if you’re looking to save money, it can be such a smart move to do it yourself.
These earring jewels come in one-ring, two-ring, or No-ring styles, so you can make dangle earrings or stud earrings with only the addition of post earring backs, or earwires. The teardrop jewel can be turned into a classicly simple, lovely necklace by adding a jump ring and chain.
Easy, low-cost, and pretty! This is a good way to start the new year 🙂
Hearts and flowers – okay, just hearts. Vintage glass red heart jewels – as shown here, paired with red oval earring jewels – or worn as a pretty, romantic pendant. Mention “red heart” when you place an order at my online jewelry supply shop and you get a free pair of red glass jewels. You get to choose the style 😉
Of course they’re wonderful for Christmas. And, you know, Valentine’s Day is coming. Just saying 🙂
Deal of the Day for December 18, 2016 – good till tomorrow night!
And the word is “purple”. Mention PURPLE in the notes to seller (or just send me a note) when you place an order in my Etsy jewelry supplies shop and you get a free pair of framed glass jewels – in purple 🙂
Like the pair above, for example. But if you prefer a different pair, you can dicker!
Pretty in purple. Glass jewels, easy to use, easy to wear, and affordable. Talk about a deal!
And today’s super special, fun Deal of the Day is: rivoli. Mention “rivoli” in the Notes to Seller when you order from my Etsy shop (yes, you have to place an order first) – and get a free pair of 10mm, round, rivoli faceted jewels in the color you choose!
Rivoli-style faceting is when the faceted angles come to a gentle point on top of the jewel, rather than a flat “table” (as in ‘table tin cut’). Rivolis like these:
Choose any color onsite. Use the stones as earring drops, connector linnks, or pretty little pendants.
Deal of the Day. Pretty glass stones. This is a win!
Make it easy on yourself. You have to make some Christmas gifts quickly, and you don’t have a lot of money? A pretty necklace and earrings will make your girls happy.
Add earwires to the vintage glass earring jewels. Grab a brass chain, slip a jump ring onto this pendant, slide it on the chain – and you’re set. Pretty jewelry, quick to make and easy to give.
This is a win 🙂
P.S. I have quite a few glass jewels that can be made into a cool pendant and earrings set. If there’s a color you want and don’t see? Just ask!
