I got a resupply of these recently and I have to say, I totally love this color! I made these earrings for a customer – and seeing that fabulous vintage Hawaiian print dress just reminded me I had to show these off 🙂  I mean, with this great color, you don’t have to do a lot. Though they’re fun when paired with other jewels or ornaments – just “as is”, don’t you love them? (I do!) And that title really sums it up. Don’t you love this dress? It’s vintage, bright, fun, and did I mention affordable? Yes 🙂  I saw this adorable dress at Dynamo Vintage on Etsy, and I am so glad I found this shop! Candice, the shop owner and curator, has a great eye for truly wearable vintage fashion. She gives good clear pics and detailed info – just what you need to make online purchases. On this dress for instance, she shows us the tag size (14! not size 2! Yay!) – but she also gives dimensions in inches, as well as fabric content, where it was made, what sort of closure it has (zipper). And her model pics show how I’d be wearing this. Add some sunglasses – okay, maybe some killer earrings or bangles – a pair of comfy sandals – and I’d take on the world. You could wear this dress anyiwhere – and look great. That’s what fashion does – when it works. This dress works! Sometimes easy is what it’s all about. Take these vintage glass beads (rhinestone jewels) and brass charms, for example:  You can see how pretty they are together. Use a jump ring to link them, add earwires, and you’re good to go! Sometimes intricate is wonderful. Sometimes you don’t want to bother. But you still want to look great. These look great 🙂 This delicate jonquil yellow is another color that’s really popular right now – and I just got more of these pretty oval jewels 🙂 
These are a pretty color anytime – but they do feel like Spring, don’t they? And if you’d like to make a Mother’s Day gift there’s still time – these are easy to use, affordable, and have a sweet sparkle. And she’ll love that you thought of her 🙂 And this is just a quick note – that you don’t have to get fussy and complicated to have a classic pendant or pair of earrings. Find a pretty, flattering color, like these soft pink teardrops:  They’d be lovely for a gift, of course (and Mother’s Day is coming, which I know you don’t need to be reminded or anything). But also for yourself. They don’t cost much, there are a few sizes available so you can be bold or demure (is that still a word?) They’re inexpensive. They’re easy. That’s a gift in itself. And, you know, springtime. Pink. Looks good. This is a fantastic dress, when you want something festive, formal, feminine – yet modest. Seriously, take a look!   Yes, the dress needs to be pressed. So? It is SUCH a great deal (see below!) – and such a great dress – that having to iron it? Not even a problem. Look at that sequin detail, and the lovely neckline, and the flattering waist. And it’s a size 16 – not a size 2! Yes. Love! I found this wonderful dress over at Well Worn Wardrobe, a vintage boutique on Etsy. The shop owner, Lonita, has some terrific finds, clear pics, and she gives the detailed info you need to make an online purchase. And her current sale goodies – fabulous! This prom dress, this lovely garment, is on sale for $14.97 plus shipping – I am not kidding! You really need to go visit her shop and find those special buys you’ve been looking for. You will totally thank me! Prom dress. Party dress. Bridesmaid dress. This dress WORKS. These golden brass, triple rhinestone settings have three glass jewels – and if your mom has three kids, you can pick those three birthstone colors to customize her Mother’s Day gift!  Don’t let the closeup fool you, these are tiny rhinestones. These beads are great used as jewelry connectors, but also wonderful when you use them exactly “as is” for delicate drop earrings. (You can get these without the little ring on the bottom, if you prefer.) If your mom likes really Out There big earrings, add showy emerald teardrops at the bottom ring. But if delicate is her style? She’s going to adore these tiny treasures 🙂 And she’ll love that you thought of it! If you visit my shop occasionally you may remember these from last year – I finally got more in! Peridot green glass octagon gems – or “framed glass pendant or earring jewels” as they are often called. Me? I just love the color 🙂  And, just thought I’d mention, peridot is the birthstone color for August. If your mom has an August birthday, these would make an awesome pair of earrings, or framed glass pendants. See? Such a cool color – and an easy DIY gift for mom 🙂 These pretty rose pink vintage glass jewels are actually a restock and I was so happy to find some more! They’re just under 1/2″ wide and great used “as is” for necklace or earring gems – but as you can see, they’re terrific in this multi-stone, “two jewel” setting.  The settings are available in silver, patina brass and golden raw brass – and the color combos shown are lovely. But the extra nice thing is that you can customize, so you can make a gift for mom with her favorite “pink plus color” combo! Because pink is such a pretty Spring color 🙂  Of course there are lots of pink glass gems in my Etsy shop. And if there’s a shape or size you can’t find, just ask me – I might have some or can find some for you. But I just wanted to show some easy DIY pendant and earring beads that don’t cost a lot of money or take a lot of work. And these would make a wonderful jewelry set for Mother’s Day. Just saying 🙂 |
