Customize these multi stone settings for earrings and pendants

I’m featuring a pic of these black diamond and crystal earrings today to show that even fairly small, neutral glass stones can have real design impact! These multi-stone settings have 10x8mm octagons and 4mm round stones.

And these can be customized all kinds of ways! The jewels I show here are neutral – black diamond, or gray – combined with sparkling crystal. I do have many colors available in my shop that fit these settings – making it easy to use your favorite colors, or the colors that match your bridesmaid dresses, or any kind of customization you choose.

The mannequin I use is close to “life size”, so the pic gives a pretty good idea of the size of these earrings. Imagine making them in your fave colors, or your mom’s, or your customer’s. You get the idea!

DIY earring design idea – aqua and purple!

Another example of earrings that look use aqua blue round glass jewels as a design element. Aqua is the birthstone color for March, so it’s kind of an appropriate time to show a few design ideas. But honestly, aqua is always a good idea!

These earrings pair the aqua round gems with sheer amethyst purple teardrops. The earrings have real color and style, but they’re not “in your face”. Sometimes you want pretty jewelry that doesn’t shout real loud, yknow?

And of course you could use this same style idea with your own gems and colors – make your own creative design! That’s what do it yourself jewelry is all about. Your own style. Well, that and saving money and having just exactly what you want!

Aqua, black diamond, and vintage white glass jewels – DIY earring design idea!

I’m really happy with this new earring design idea. The earrings would be long(ish), but the jewels are not massive and the earrings are not heavy (I tried on a pair!) And the combination of aqua 10mm rivoli rounds, black diamond 8x8mm diamonds, and the vintage white 18x12mm teardrops, makes these really interesting and attractive.

At least I think so! Let me know what you think 🙂 And of course, this design idea would be easy to adapt to your favorite colors. Use the beads and jewels scattered on your work bench, try new ideas, and create a fabulous, custom-made pair of earrings!

Red Glass Pears – a Necklace Design Idea

This necklace design is really a classic: faceted pear or teardrop shaped rhinestone jewels in two sizes, used as the focal and surrounding jewels for this pretty necklace.

** Like I said: a classic. Of course you’ll think of your own creative ways to adapt this idea. Use your own favorite color – or colors! Maybe the colors of your children’s birthstones. Or your favorite team!

I show the jewels here with a brass cable chain with just a hint of antique patina. The jewels are available in golden raw brass and silver plated brass as well (honestly I think the golden color is my favorite, but that’s a personal thing.)

Try your own idea(s) for focal design – I would love to see pics of your creations!

Bicolor Earring Jewels – Do It Yourself Jewelry Design

Okay, “bicolor earring jewels” is a fancier way of saying, mismatched earrings! I think a lot of us love this idea. In “do it yourself” design, especially with earrings that have one common element (in this case, the white vintage glass teardrops) it’s just fun to have the other jewels be different colors.

Don’t you think so? I used smaller, round jewels with rivoli faceting in sapphire blue and emerald green, for the “mismatched” jewels. Play with different colors here! Maybe your kids’ birthstone colors. Or your school colors! Or any colors you like best.

It’s a great way to tailor a pair of earrings specially to one outfit, or just use crazy colors because you like them. That’s what “do it yourself” jewelry is all about. Make what you want!

Multi Stone Pear Jewels

The faceted stone duos that I refer to as ‘multi stone pear jewels’ are one of the most popular jewel styles available in my shop. They’re great “as is”, for pendants or earrings. Add a jump ring, slip the jewel on a chain, and you’ve got a lovely necklace with almost no work. The same is true for earrings: add earwires in your preferred style, and presto! Your earrings are ready.

Ready to wear, or to give as a gift – or to sell. And an extra special thing about this two-jewel style is that you can customize them. You choose the color of the tiny stone at the top of the setting, so you can match your bridesmaid dresses. Or accommodate a special customer request.

You choose. That’s what do-it-yourself jewelry is all about. Spend less, and get exactly what you want!

Discount Code for 10% Off

I just activated a new coupon code for use anytime in my Etsy shop. The only catch? Your order has to total more than $50 of jewelry supplies. I don’t think you’ll have a problem finding really beautiful, useful gems, findings, and assorted other beads and goodies in my shop – they really are a good value.

It’s just that easy. I primarily created it to give a little perk to my Instagram peeps, but it’s good for anybody who wants to use it. When you order, use the coupon code INSTA10, and you’ll get 10% off any order over $50.00. You’ll find some great deals – and now you can get 10% off. Have fun shopping!

DIY Necklace Design – with Removable Pendant

I’ve used this necklace design in the past – but I don’t think I ever described what I think is a very important design element. The pendant is removeable!

imagine using other colors or shapes, just for example…

So. With this particular pendant, you have a red-and-silver necklace, featuring an oval pendant on multiple layers of chain. But you could also remove the pendant, and have a silver multi-chain necklace that’ll go with half the outfits in your closet.

The extra cool idea is that you could buy – or create – other pendants to slip on the chain. Presto – multiple necklaces!

Now that’s a win 😉

Aqua Glass Gem Earrings

Just one more post about aqua glass gems – I thought I would show how these aqua octagon gems available in my shop
look when worn as earrings 🙂

The mannequin used in these pics is close to life size – so you can get an idea of scale. And I think this pic illustrates wonderfully, how great the glass gems are when used “as is”. You don’t need to do a lot of fussy work.

This doesn’t have to be a time-consuming stressful operation. Choose your glass gems, add earwires, and Presto! Gorgeous earrings.

Aqua Glass Gems – on Sale

I thought I would show here, a few of the aqua glass gems available in my shop. Why now? Because the birthstone color for March is aquamarine. And aqua is beautiful all year round, of course 🙂
