Fabulous vintage party dress

We’re talking va-voom here. This royal blue, vintage long dress is great-looking, it’s simple – the kind of “simple” that means well-designed and it’ll look good for 20 years instead of fussy and faddy. It’s classy but not boring. It’s *interesting* – in the good way:

vintage royal blue dress

You see what I mean. Those dress is fully lined, so those panels in the skirt are flirty but not too revealing. This is a totally year-round dress, bare in summer, and with a warm coat all winter. It will always look good – will make YOU look good.

I found this treasure at DressVintageattitude and the owner/curator (known as Adoration2013, love it!) says this on her About page: “Love shopping vintage dresses and skirts. I feel confident and happy when I rock my vintage dresses. They always satisfy my eagerness for clothes. They are divine!” And that kind of says it all.

Oh. Except. One more really important feature: this blue dress, this cobalt royal treasure that will make you look divine, costs $19.50 USD plus shipping. Yes. You read that correctly.

And now you’re already gone, because you are shopping at this wonderful boutique. You can thank me later 😉

Vintage halter dress – just in time for summer

This dress totally restores my faith in vintage (okay, I hadn’t actually lost it. But still!) This is just what I’m looking for – a goodlooking, wearable, flattering, one-of-a-kind vintage dress.

vintage floral halter dress from Vintage Dinosaur Shop

I know you understand: this is why I love vintage. It’s all those good things I mentioned above – and it’s not a size 2! Score extra points for that. I found it at the Vintage Dinosaur Shop on Etsy, and I am definitely bookmarking this shop. The owners/curators, Emily and Jennifer, have great vision – and they give you the visual information you need to make an online purchase.

And their clothes are Affordable. I am totally in love. You’re welcome 🙂

PS And did you notice? This dress is FUN.

Vintage Calvin Klein dress. A. Great. Dress.

I actually had to modify my comments about this dress. Abbreviated, this is what they came down to: Wow. This is a GREAT dress.

vintage green Calvin Klein dress from Bella Amori Vintage

I mean, there were a whole lot of things I was going to say, including “cotton and Washable!” and flattering fit and if you have to get some Spanx to wear this dress, do it, because it is still a fabulous value, and you are never going to have a better dress.

I mean, that may not be true, you may have a closetful of fabulous dresses. But most of us? A dress like this, that looks great and is effortless and will be fab with no accessories or pile them on, with flats or stilettos, in summer (on cool days or nights) or winter (add a cardigan), and even the color will look good on almost everybody? And it’s easy, and it always looks good, and YOU always look good?

How are you going to get a better dress than that? You’re not. This is what clothes are supposed to do – effortlessly, like this.

And not only is this vintage and you will not find 20 of them walking around, you will be Unique – but This Dress Is $26.00. Okay, plus shipping.

The wonderful woman who is offering you this dress is Victoria, of Bella Amori Vintage on Etsy. She has a great eye, and great values, and she’s got a wonderful shop.

I have to say: if this dress ANYWHERE NEAR fit me it would be already sold, and I would simply be telling you about a great shop. Go there. Seriously.

Vintage size 10 leather pumps

Yes, I mentioned right in the title that these gorgeous shoes are Size 10. Why? Because it’s like clothing. Thelarger sizes – no, the not-tiny sizes – are just harder to find. People grab them up quickly.

vintage size 10 cognac leather pumps

I mean seriously, are these shoes not grabbable! And if you wear a size 10, isn’t it harder to find good, well preserved, fabulous vintage shoes? Yes. And look at the details here – these are great shoes.

I found these beauties at a darling vintage shop on Etsy called Preservation Road. Michele, the owner/curator, has some fabulous finds – and a good eye. Even more important, her pics are clear and informative, showing you the info you need to buy online. This skill is all too rare!

Go there. You’ll thank me. And if these beauteous shoes are gone when you visit, you could maybe let her know you’re on the hunt 😉

Vintage beach house basket – a gift for Mom

Wouldn’t this be a perfect gift for your mom? It’s vintage, it’s got great style, and it would actually do something, as in providing storage.

Or it could be, you know, a gift for your living room, where you could use it to keep the kids’ toys, or the dog’s stuff – or yours – in some kind of accessible order. While looking good.

It doesn’t actually have to be a “beach house” basket, it just looks to me like it could be casually sitting on the porch at Martha’s Vineyard, or even better, on Little Deer Key.

I found this treasure at Amid The Ruins, a quite wonderful vintage boutique at Etsy. TW, the shop owner/curator, has some fabulous finds there – and beautifully clear, informative pics, providing the visual information you need when you’re going to buy something online.

Go there. You’ll thank me.

PS And hey, a gift for Mom. Easy. Done 🙂

Aqua vintage prom dress

And really this is what vintage is all about. Good vintage, anyway. First and most important, this is a terrific dress.

Aqua vintage prom dress from Ruffles and Daisies

And: it’s vintage. Which means it’s probably better made than a lot of the new dresses you’ll find in shops these days. Also a better value (Yes!) And you’re not going to see ten of them at your prom, which is cool too.

And it’s girly and pretty – and that princess seaming? Uber flattering. And the lacing is a little bit sexy and fun. But not so racy they’ll kick you out of the prom.

I found this treasure at Ruffles and Daisies, a vintage boutique on Etsy. Kati, the curator and shop owner, has a great eye. She’s got some wonderful finds – and she shows them cleanly and clearly, with an eye for showing details – an all important skill for selling online.

Go peek. You’ll thank me!

(And by the way. Yes, this will be a great prom dress. But it’s one of those rare styles that could look super on somebody 16 – or 60. Like I said: a GOOD dress!)

Vintage silk dress

This is another example of what vintage – good vintage – is all about. This cute dress is silk, with a leopard print design (super chic right now).

vintage leopard print silk dress from Ginger and Judy

You could style this for work – just add a good jacket. Or for play – change your work flats for stilettos, add some rhinestone-and-onyx earrings, and put your hair up. Voila: party time! It’s modest (sometimes you need that) – and sexy too. With the drapeable silk fabric, this is going to show *you* off.

It’s available at Ginger and Judy, a vintage boutique on Etsy – and the owner / curator Bree has a shop full of vintage goodies. I mean it, you’ll love this shop – go peek!

PS Did I mention this adorable silk dress is on sale? Half price. Go grab it – or check out more of Bree’s sale offerings. Love!

Vintage Blue Strapless Gown

Isn’t this a gorgeous dress? It’s the best of both worlds. Beautiful – affordable – and vintage too. The woman who wears this gown? She’ll be a star!

strapless vintage gown

It’s available from Gabriellas Treasures vintage boutique, and you should definitely click through the link so you can see the fine detailing on this dress. The hand-sewn beading, the attached crinoline, the asymetric layers, the style! This is a high-end garment – for a wonderful affordable vintage price. It tell you better than a paragraph of words, why vintage is special.

Can you imagine this gown being abandoned in a closet? or a thrift store? or a landfill! Never. It belongs on a princess.

That’s you 🙂

Gorgeous Stuart Weitzman vintage pumps

Yes, this is why I love vintage. These are beautiful shoes, they’re one of those rare pairs that are sexy, feminine, high-heeled and STILL WEARABLE.

vintage Stuart Weitzman honey tan vintage pumps

Stuart Weitzman is a very high-end name in women’s footwear, and you can see why. Look at the details – a classic low-throated pump that doesn’t have a ridiculously pointed toe (which is totally painful). A high, slender heel that isn’t dangerously wobbly. Beautiful leather. (And I love the honey tan color.) These are a class act!

I found these at Lilli’s Closet, a vintage boutique on Etsy. Lilli, the curator and shop owner, has some other wonderful finds there. She shows wonderful details in her pics so you know what you’re getting – and she seems to have a specially talented eye for finding wonderful shoes!

PS Did I mention how affordable these Weitzman pumps are? Get ready for this: $30.00. Yes. Go shopping 🙂

Vintage gray dress – and. Wow.

And this, right here, is why I think vintage is the greatest. This dress is pure class. It’s wearable, the draping is uber flattering, it’s work appropriate *and* it can go out to dinner. And make you look good.

vintage gray dress from Cocovintages boutique

I was originally looking for a gray dress so I could show you how cool it would be with the black diamond (gray) rhinestone connectors in my previous post here. But I don’t even need that excuse. This dress is going to look good no matter how you accessorize it – and think how many ways you could do that. Vivid scarf – great pumps. Leather boots. Spike heels. Rhinestones, pearls, glammed up – or toned down with wood cuffs or lucite.

It’s available from Cocovintages boutique and the owner, Kate, has some fabulous goodies. I’m totally serious, go there, you’re so going to thank me 🙂

This is a great dress!

PS And! It is NOT a size 2, it is a 14(ish). You can find great vintage in Real People sizes. They do get grabbed up though – you’d think they were in demand or something. (Please tell me why the fashion world tends to forget about you if you’re not a size 2 or maybe a 4. I’m still trying to figure that one out.)
