Aqua Pears – and Red Pears

The faceted rhinestone pears I’m showing in this pic are different colors than I would normally use, but I had them on my worktable and thought… hmmmm, let’s try it! Of all the pears (or teardrops) in my shop I think it’s kind of interesting to actually try combinations I wouldn’t normally use. And the aqua and red are fun together!

So hey, try that yourself… Pull out some of your stash and try combinations you normally wouldn’t. Of course some will be…not great. But some of them will be very cool! By the way – I also think it is totally okay to combine different metal finishes. Use both gold and silver in the same earrings or necklace. Seriously, why not? Because it breaks A Rule? (Yeah, so…)

I’m going to play with that idea myself. And yes I’ll share pics!

Light Colorado Topaz Rhinestones

I’m showing off a few of the styles I have in my shop of the color known as “light Colorado topaz” I think (am NOT sure, this is what I’ve been told) that the color name originated with Swarovski rhinestones made in Austria earlier in the 1900s. Swarovski is the creme de la creme (I think that’s the phrase!) of glass rhinestone jewels and a lot has been, hmm, borrowed from them.

These stones aren’t Swarovski – last I heard, those weren’t being sold except to wholesale manufacturers though that may change soon. But they are still considered the pinnacle of beautifully made and high quality stones. And these are a pretty good comparison!

As as you can see, these stones are lovely. They’re not Swarovski (and fortunately about one-quarter the cost??) But they’re special, and well made, and of course if you want to try them out I’d be happy to oblige 🙂 So just in the spirit of learning and trying stuff, from now through midnight on Sunday, June 21, 2026, if you buy any Light Colorado Topaz glass stones in my shop, you get a second pair free! While supplies last and all that (but I did just restock recently so that should work).

Have fun learning!

Garnet Glass Rhinestones

Garnet glass rhinestones are among the most popular color of (glass) gemstone available in my shop* – and I wanted to share this pic of a few of the styles available.

If you click on the pic you’ll see many other shapes and sizes. You probably knew that garnet is known as the “love gemstone” or “color of love” – I know, it’s not just ‘red’. Garnets are love! And I think you’ll love creating your own styles to feature these popular glass gems – for yourself or for sale. And (you know this already) – have fun while creating!

* And if for some reason the link doesn’t work, here’s the addy for my shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/weekendjewelry1. Check it out!
