Vintage Embroidered Purse

This embroidered vintage bag is pretty, it’s fun, and it can totally make your summer outfits 🙂

Love the colors – and the embroidered heron bird! And on the practical side, it’s big enough to hold your necessary stuff (about 10″ x 9″) but small enough that it’s not going to weigh a lot. You could dress it up (imagine with a white or red cheongsam!) – or down, with your basic white tank and cutoffs. You see what I mean.

And? It is super affordable – only $15.00! I found it in a lovely Etsy shop called Thrifthound 2000 and the owner has LOTS of fabulous buys. I mean, a black tank bodycon jumpsuit for $14.00, wear it if you dare! And more. Lots of goodies, lots of bargains, and bottom line? Cool, unusual, vintage, and affordable.

This is a win 😉

Vintage Green Dress

That simple title doesn’t do this dress justice. This cute little garment could be a summer classic!

Vintage sleeveless full skirted green dress

This is a good, maybe great, basic spring or summer dress. You could wear it on a cool evening with a little cashmere cardigan, or white bolero, fitted. You might add a black patent leather belt, and white button earrings. Or, go to the other side of the Force, and envision Madonna in the 80s – okay, this would have been costume dressing for her, but so what? Find some BIG hoop earrings, and bare bare stilettos, or gladiator sandals, or go back to Audrey and Givenchy and wear ballet flats.

I’d add a crinoline, myself. Talk about making your waist look smaller – just add a petticoat. Big fluffy twirly hem plus fitted waist equals SMALL waist. Us girls are clever that way.

It’s available from Dusk Till Dawn Vintage and not only is this shop full of terrific goodies, but they are AFFORDABLE goodies. A secretary’s top that looks good – for $8.00. Vintage cowboy boots for $45.00. You get the idea. Even if these treasures are gone soon (and they will be) – this shop has a rep for good value and great finds.

I mean, talk about win-win. And this green dress? Okay, if not black patent, how about bright red? Button earrings. Bangle bracelets. Big straw hat. Jackie sunglasses. Love it.

Vintage summer sandals

And no I am NOT obsessed with shoes. Really. I just happen to like pretty shoes, I mean we have to wear them anyway, right? So they might as well be darling little sandals like these:

I found them at Look Again Vintage, one of my favorite vintage shops at Etsy. The owner alwayis seems to find classy stuff and her customer service is great.

But really, it’s all about the shoes. Aren’t they adorable? They look comfy, they’re pretty, and they’re feminine but not Stilettos. I am officially in love!

Vintage Pink Sandals

And then of course, if you’re thinking about Spring, then with your pretty spring dress (see my post here) you’re going to need some pretty accessories. And (just this once) I’m not even talking about jewelry.

I’m talking about these darling 1960s sandals:

Are those not adorable? They’re available at BigBangZero Vintage Shop on Etsy and she has lots of wonderful goodies that will charm you and make you happy. Go sneak a peek, you will thank me!

Like I said – slip on your pretty spring dress, grab a shawl or jacket, slip into these wondiferous sandals, and go meet your girlfriend. Or boyfriend. Or both.

Summer. Fun. Kind of what it’s all about 🙂

P.S. And did I mention the Art Deco red glass-beaded fringe bag or the Black Italian leather granny boots she has in her shop right now? Honestly. Go peek!

A spring dress – vintage of course!

I’m in the mood for Spring. It’s cold here – it’s cold around half the U.S. – and it’s February – and I am wanting to hurry Spring along. That never works, but I can dream 🙂

And it’s got me searching for spring clothes – that don’t cost a fortune, that look comfy and pretty and full of color and life, and this just suits, yknow?

Doesn’t that pic – that dress – make you want to grab a scarf, maybe a lightweight cardigan, and head outside for lunch? Warm sunshine, pretty sandals, and maybe leave work early to meet, well, somebody special.

We can dream, can’t we? And meanwhile, this pretty dress is full of flowers and color and it makes me feel good. It’s available from PomoloVintage on Etsy and Jolene, the owner, has lots of pretties for you to admire. Go peek – you’ll thank me!

Winter-into-Spring Vintage Dress

Holy toledo, this is a great dress. Yes, you could wear it right now – it’ll look great in winter, with high heeled pumps (of course) and maybe some oversized pearls. But I’m already thinking about Spring – and this fab dress will carry you right through Easter.

Can’t you see it with turquoise lucite, or white, or bright red jewelry for contrast? And little strappy sandals on a warm spring day? (well yeah, high heels – but still, sandals). Maybe demure white gloves.

Yeah, demure. That’s the ticket 😉

This dress is available from One Trick Chassis – Classic Vintage Threads on Etsy and J.J., the shop owner, has some great finds over there. The guys’ suits – the red swing coat – the leather bags – well, you’ve just got to go look, that’s all. By the time you see this, Christmas has come and gone (or at least, you’re ready for it) – it’s maybe time for a small indulgence just for you. And, well, thinking about Spring.

You know you want to!

Vintage party dress. Red. And Yowza.

Now this is a party dress. Vivid red. Chiffon. Meant to be twirly.

Of course this dress would be perfect for your Christmas party – and it’s that rare garment that’s modest enough for your office party – but still totally babelicious and sexy. You will WEAR this dress!

And it’s even affordable! It’s from JDBok, a special vintage shop on Etsy and it tells you without words why I love vintage so much. Special, unusual, wonderful garments. Fair pricing. Small business. And it’s so much better than buying a new (expensive)(cookie-cutter) dress.

Now this is a party dress!

Vintage 1940s Shoes ooh la la!

Holy toledo, take a look at these shoes – talk about girly and gorgeous!

vintage 1940s black peep toe slingback pumps

Now that’s what high heels are supposed to be. Attractive, interesting detail, great 3″ heels that are NOT so high you can’t walk in them. A platform to give you a bit of extra height but not a ridiculous, silly platform that some shoes have that we won’t talk about. These actually look comfortable!

And I mentioned gorgeous, right? Imagine the dinner date you’re having while you’re wearing these. Go find them at VintageAccessories4U on Etsy.

If they are already sold, believe me you’ll find lots of other cool goodies. Did I mention the red leather combat boots?

Yeah. Go look 🙂

Gorgeous vintage dress – and did I mention cleavage?

All right, yes, that was just a teaser. Because this is a girly and gorgeous dress – and there’s no cleavage. The whole thing that caught my eye about this dress is that it is pretty, and flattering, and if it’s your size it would look good on basically everybody between about 14 and 84. Yes it would look different on those two females – but think about it, it would look GOOD.

And the thing is, sometimes for one reason or another you need something classy and dressy that is modest. Maybe you’re trying to impress his mom (or give her a snow job, what do I know). Or to wear to your very conservative office party. Or something. But you still want to look good. Well – here’s your dress.

It’s available at Lucky Dry Goods, a vintage shop on Etsy. And may I just say, that if this delectable garment is already purchased, when you go to check? There are many irresistible vintage finds just waiting for you to pounce. Did I mention the Black velvet dress from the 1930s or the gold lurex pantsuit that Alfred Hitchcock would totally have used in one of his films?

I mean, you have go to check. Trust me on this one 😉

Vintage Blue Hat with Fascinator Veil

Now *this* is Style:

Royal blue vintage hat with fascinator veil

This fabulous vintage hat with fascinator veil is available from Semprevintage on Etsy. It’s in wonderful shape, it’s gorgeous, it’s affordable. Every time you wear it, your entire outfit is going to be more interesting. Your girlfriends are going to want to know where you got it. Your man friends are going to think you’re sexier, although they won’t necessarily even know why, and they probably won’t think anything about your hat at all. But there’ll be something about you and they will respond to it, even if they don’t know what it is. Maybe they’ll go, “Oh, blue hat, whatever.”

But you will know. Gorgeous and interesting. The “affordable” part is just a perk.

If this lovely hat is gone when you go to visit, believe me there are many more wonderful treats to find at Semprevintage on Etsy. It’s that kind of (wonderful) shop. The owner, Anna, has the good sense to give lots of detail and photos. Her shop is, well, fascinating.

You’ll see what I mean. Go peek!

P.S. And by the way, did I mention the vintage wedding dress I loved? She has a vintage bridal category – in other words, she is always looking for more vintage wedding dresses and accessories! You know that’s what you’ve been looking for!
